Parents & Guardians,
My name is Tawanya Scarboro and I am pleased to be your child’s teacher this year. During the year our class will be learning a wide variety of skills and information. Your child will learn to read, write short stories, and count to at least 100 as well as learn about animals, natural resources, people, history, and celebrated holidays. This classroom will consist of a diverse group of kindergartners and each child will be held to a high expectation of responsibility and respect. In addition, your child will be given the opportunity to develop appropriate social, emotional, and problem-solving skills.
I have taught for 17 years in Pre-K, Kindergarten, and 1st grade. For the past 11 years I have been teaching Kindergarten. In 2009 I earned my Master’s degree in Special Education from Winthrop University. Our instructional assistant, Mrs. Bushra Asad, will also work with our class to ensure your child’s safety, emotional, and educational needs are met.
Volunteering in your child’s class, attending special events, and reading together nightly is proven to increase your child’s development and academic skills. You MUST register to volunteer. When volunteering in the classroom please turn your cell phone off to minimize disruptions during instruction. You are encouraged to keep the lines of communication open. You may contact me via email: [email protected] or through the Bloomz app. Our class website is http://mrsscarboro.weebly.com/ and is updated regularly with information regarding school and community events as well as important dates. Class and grade level newsletters are updated on Blackboard monthly. am excited about this school year and look forward to seeing each of you on a regular basis.
Sincerely,
Mrs. Tawanya M. Scarboro, M. Ed.
